Hidden Treasure: Cunningham Creek Winery

Tucked away in the rolling hills of a hundred-year-old family farm, Cunningham Creek Winery is a charming new wedding venue in Central Virginia.

Before it was Cunningham Creek Winery at Middle Fork Farm, it was the Bragg Farm for over a hundred years. Instead of grapes, there were fields of cows and hay. In 2011, Bruce and Debby “retired” and joined with long-time friends Rick and Sara to give the beautiful rolling land new life.

After a year and a half of preparation, they planted the first grape vines in 2013. Today, Cunningham Creek Winery at Middle Fork Farm is once again a vibrant working farm. You’ll find eleven acres of Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Cab Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot grapes as well as strawberries, pumpkin fields, more than 30 Kiko-Boer goats, and two very busy and happy families.

Cunningham Creek is a friendly gathering place where the owners welcome you like family. You can even bike there! It’s located right on U.S. Bicycle Route 76 (the TransAmerica Trail), just 20 minutes from Jefferson’s Monticello.

The on-site farm store features local and seasonal products to pair with Cunningham Creek’s excellent wines like the Herd Dog Red (Cabernet Franc) and Cycle 76 (Pinot Gris).

A beautiful newly-built tasting room, surrounded by lovely vineyard views, can welcome up to 50 guests for a seated reception or 80 guests for cocktails. Lawn space nearby can accommodate a tent for up to 125 guests. The property also features a cozy one-bedroom cottage available as a bridal or honeymoon suite.

Be the first of your friends to choose Cunningham Creek Winery for an unforgettable Virginia wine country wedding.

Ashleigh and Phil's Craft Beer Themed Wedding

Ashleigh & PhilOctober 17, 2015

Ashleigh and Phil tied the knot at Rodes Farm in Nellysford, Virginia on a beautiful October day.  Prior to the ceremony, the ladies got ready together in the Manor House while the gentlemen visited together in the Guest House.  Ashleigh wore an elegant mermaid gown for the ceremony and a floral dress for the reception, while her bridesmaids wore dresses that they had picked out themselves in Ashleigh’s color scheme.  Judy Hayward of On Location Bridal did hair and make up for the ladies.

Featuring a craft beer theme, the couple served a variety of beers at their ceremony which guests enjoyed while Ashleigh and Phil shared personal vows and a Unity Beer ceremony.  They had an ordained friend perform the ceremony and one of Ashleigh’s bridesmaids did a reading.  Both of these personal touches made the ceremony very unique and moving.

Ashleigh and Phil created a celebratory and relaxed environment filled with humor, friendship, and heartfelt storytelling which carried throughout their special day.

The reception took place in a charming, rustic barn filled with strands of lights, craft beer inspired décor and elegant floral arrangements from Blue Ridge Floral.  After the opening toast by the bride’s father, Guests ordered dinner from two food trucks: South Fork and Blue Ridge Pizza and enjoyed warm donuts and fresh coffee from Carpe Donut. Being the coldest night of the season so far did not stop Ashleigh and Phil and their guests from tearing it up on the dance floor to the E3 Band right up until the reception ended.  The couple even moved a table to make a bigger dance floor as more and more guests joined in.

The newlyweds made a romantic exit from the reception through a line of sparklers and cheering loved ones.  As many of the guests stayed on site, the celebration carried on well into the night.
